This week, the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) recognized four Specialty Granules facilities for their leadership in maintaining exemplary compliance with environmental regulation. SGI is a proud member of NSSGA, the leading voice and advocate for the aggregates industry.
SGI’s Annapolis Facility received the NSSGA Gold Environmental Excellence Award. These facilities were in the top ten percent of those receiving the highest score from NSSGA’s independent judges.
SGI’s Charmian, Ione and Kremlin facilities were also honored with Environmental Excellence Awards. Charmian and Kremlin took home Silver awards, while Ione was recognized with a Bronze award. The awards were presented at NSSGA’s annual Legislative and Policy Forum in Washington, D.C.
The Charmian operation has been recognized by NSSGA every year since 2013, and this was the second year in a row that multiple SGI operations received recognition.
“NSSGA member companies have a long history of being good stewards of our environment, making positive contributions to the communities in which they operate,” said NSSGA President & CEO Michael W. Johnson. “The NSSGA Environmental Excellence Awards recognize the best of the best operations that demonstrate the commitment to environmental stewardship. We congratulate these award-winning companies on the focus and achievement they have made in environmental excellence.”
NSSGA’s Environmental Excellence Awards nationally recognize the NSSGA members who actively and meaningfully contribute to the maintenance of the environment in and around their operations. SGI’s corporate commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems has been a longstanding priority for the company across its six facilities in the United States.
“We’re honored to be recognized for our longstanding commitment to environmental excellence across several of our facilities here at SGI,” said Matthew McClure, Executive Director for SGI. “Thank you to the team at NSSGA for continuing to highlight the importance of environmental practices within our industry, and to our colleagues for their continued commitment to the communities where we work and live.”
